Revamping Technology Innovation Institute (TII) Website for 2023

The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is a globally renowned research center operating under the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), supervised by the Abu Dhabi Government. 

TII’s mission is to push the boundaries of knowledge through transformative technologies and groundbreaking science. In 2023, TII recognized the need for a comprehensive visual and technical refresh of its website to enhance user experience and engagement.

Despite having well-structured content, TII faced challenges with the interface and user experience on its website. The lack of intuitive navigation and a cohesive color scheme hindered users from efficiently accessing vital information. The challenge was to transform the information-dense site into an intuitive, engaging, and user-friendly platform.

• Conducted rigorous usability tests to understand user behavior, preferences, and challenges.
• Restructured the site into main sections for easy navigation, such as “About Us,” “Research Centers,” “Our Partners,” “Publications,” “Seminars,” “Careers,” “Media,” and “Contact Us.”
• Mapped out the layout using wireframes and adopted a clean, modern design with a unified color scheme in line with TII’s branding guidelines.
• Developed high-fidelity prototypes and conducted user testing to incorporate feedback into the final designs.

• Implemented a cohesive design system, including a unified color palette and typographic hierarchy, enhancing the overall aesthetic and usability.
• Introduced an intuitive project filtering system under “Research Centers” for precise content categorization.
• Implemented a 3D Walkthrough feature for all research centers to engage users and highlight TII’s achievements.
• Ensured a responsive design for optimal viewing across a range of devices, acknowledging the increasing use of mobile devices.
• Improved the overall aesthetic appeal, making site navigation fluid and increasing user engagement. Visitors transformed into regular users staying updated on TII’s scientific advancements.

The revitalized TII website now boasts a well-designed and user-friendly interface, offering easy access to information about research centers, news, publications, careers, and contact details. 

The new website effectively communicates TII’s commitment to innovation and cutting-edge research, presenting an engaging and informative platform for users to explore TII’s research initiatives and stay updated with the latest developments.
